How Many Heroes Are in Deadlock? Full Roster (June 2026)

Last updated: June 3, 2026

The roster is one of the fastest-moving things in the game, which is why the question pops up after almost every patch — and if you've been away for a few months, the answer has probably changed since you last checked a hub like deadlock.io. Valve has been shipping new characters in rapid waves and letting the community vote on the release order, so the count keeps creeping up. Here's exactly where it stands today, the complete list, and how the next heroes get added.

Quick answer: As of June 2026, Deadlock has 38 fully playable heroes (plus a handful of unreleased characters still in development). The newest additions — Rem, Graves, Silver, Venator, Celeste and Apollo — all arrived in the "Old Gods, New Blood" wave in early 2026.

How Valve adds new heroes now

The old Hero Labs system — a separate test mode you had to unlock with 50 games — was retired in August 2025. The current pipeline is much faster:

  • New heroes drop directly into the live game in timed waves, roughly every couple of days during a release event.
  • Players vote (votes are earned by playing matches) on which hero unlocks next, so the community controls the release order.
  • A token / hero-MMR layer nudges players who do well on a new hero toward getting it in their matches, spreading early testing around.
🎮 For Dota 2 players: 38 heroes sounds small next to Dota's 120 , but Deadlock heroes are far more mechanically distinct — each has a gun and a full ability kit. Expect the roster to keep growing toward triple digits over the game's lifetime.

What about the unreleased names?

You may see datamined characters like Fathom, Raven, Trapper or Wrecker floating around. These were shelved Hero Labs prototypes and are not playable — don't count them. The reliable, current number is 38, and it will tick up the moment Valve runs its next release wave.

The takeaway: 38 heroes today, more on the way, and you get a say in what arrives next. If you're brand new, don't try to learn them all — pick two or three forgiving heroes and grow from there.
